'Meatheads' is another commonly used word, thanks to "Jersey

Shore," used to describe a person who frequently lifts weights

at the gym.

IOWA CITY - Hayden Fry coached the Iowa Hawkeyes for two decades and contributed many wins, and a pink locker room.

Fry, who was a psychology major when he attended Baylor in the late 1940s, began his time as the Iowa head football coach by painting the visitor's locker room pink.

Early Wednesday morning a westbound freight train struck Eastern student Ryan Mazgay in Lombard, Ill. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mazgay, 20, was on foot and the preliminary account is that he took his own life, said Dane Cuny, the deputy sheriff of the Lombard Police Department.

The observant student may have noticed a small change to DePauw University's website recently. In the upper-left corner, the type treatment of DePauw's name has changed.

Christopher Wells, vice president for communication and strategic initiatives, said the modification was made to make the website's logo match that of important documents that the university produces, such as those pertaining to campus planning.

A decade-long struggle to adopt domestic partner benefits at Eastern came to an end recently when Eastern President Doug Whitlock announced at fall convocation the university would adopt the policy, making it available later this fall.

Referred to in the policy as "sponsored dependent" benefits, the term, President Whitlock told the crowd, wasn't meant to mislead.

It's not surprising to hear about people collecting stamps, coins or even crazy-eyed little dolls from foreign countries, but long time Eastern professor Gene Kleppinger has a collection all his own.

He likes ties.

Kleppinger, who helms over Blackboard as well as being a part-time philosophy professor, started wearing ties regularly back in 2000 when his office sat comfortably in the Keene Johnson building.
